Logo of Gorilla Technology GroupGorilla Technology Group provides AI-based video analytics solutions of people & face recognition, behavior analysis, vehicle detection & recognition, and business intelligence. The Taiwanese company develops applications for camera analysis using over 40 different AI algorithms, and provides AI computer vision solutions that can be installed on edge devices such as surveillance cameras, ATMs, and vending machines. Established in 2001, the company currently has 11 offices worldwide.

Their flagship product, IVAR™ (Intelligent Video Analytics Recorder), is the world's first certified IVA (Intelligent Video Analytics) security software partner integrating Intel's OpenVINO™*. Their Edge AI technology leverages the Intel® distribution of the OpenVINO™ toolkit to offer video analytics solutions on cost-efficient hardware platforms. The partnership allows the company's edge terminals to perform 1.5 times more real-time video image analysis on the same hardware without the need for a GPU (the semiconductor chip that performs the computational processing required to render images such as 3D graphics). This can significantly reduce deployment costs for user companies.

In December 2018, the company secured a 15 million dollars investment in D-round funding from SBI Investment Co., Ltd. and in May 2019, the company concluded a strategic business alliance with Asteria Corporation to promote AI technology in Japan and to fully expand into the Japanese market. In January 2020, the company established Gorilla Technology Japan Inc. in Tokyo to provide sales, technical support, and other services.

Upon establishing the Japanese company, JETRO's Invest Japan Business Support Center (IBSC) provided information on the Japanese market, business partner identification and business matching. IBSC also introduced service providers and arranged interviews (patent offices, banks, PR companies), and provided consultation (registration).

*OpenVINO™ is a toolkit of software libraries for computer vision applications, facilitating image recognition using image processing and deep learning.
